Our client, a global infrastructure fund, had recently acquired a UK regional airport. They believed that the current CEO was considering moving on and asked us to run a confidential project to identify and benchmark the most suited potential replacements who would be open to making a move.

Strategy:
The existing team were very strong operationally, so our remit was to identify candidates with particular expertise in business development and communications, to match the challenges that the airport faced. We mapped similar sized airports across Europe, and also identified potential candidates from other transportation industries. We spoke to industry experts to gain further insights on individuals, before conducting confidential conversations with the leading candidates to assess them.
Outcome:
Our client thoroughly evaluated their options, and concluded that their best option was to retain the existing CEO. They used the compensation data that we provided them with to structure a more suitable package that was comparable to their competitors.
